Oyster Bay Oyster Fest: make time for the arts and crafts

It is easy to give the food line most of a festival afternoon and discover the makers just as you are ready to leave. If the arts-and-crafts tent is part of what brings you to Oyster Bay, put some time for it into the plan.

Oyster Bay’s Oyster Fest returns on October 17–18, 2026. It is known for food and waterfront festivities, but its arts-and-crafts area offers another reason to explore. If browsing makers is part of your plan, give it a place in the day rather than treating it as something to squeeze in on the way out.

Check the organizer’s current information

Use the official Oyster Fest site for the latest schedule, access, transport and visitor rules. Festival details can change, and older listings may remain visible in search results. The organizer identifies an arts-and-crafts pavilion as part of the event, but that does not establish that a particular maker will attend.

If you are going specifically to see one business, confirm its participation directly before traveling.

Browse before committing

Take a first pass through the area if time and crowds allow. Notice which stalls offer something relevant to your home or gift list. Ask about the material, maker and care rather than choosing only from the first impression.

Respect requests about handling objects and taking photographs. Small makers may have fragile work or designs they prefer not to have copied casually.

Plan for carrying a purchase

Consider how you will get a fragile or bulky item home before paying. Ask about packaging, and keep the maker’s name and receipt with the purchase so you can follow up appropriately.

Ask how a piece was made and how you will get it home. Leave enough room in the day to enjoy the answer.
